Waiheke Island Syrah Silver Medal Wine Award – Eventide Vineyard: The Real Review
“Appealing aromatics with floral and black cherry that continues onto the palate where it is joined by cassis, blackberry and spice characters. Seductively drinkable red. It is hard to imagine it getting any better with bottle age.

The highly respected Michael Cooper awarded this vintage 4.5 stars out of 5 !
Michael Cooper 4.5 Star Award
“This distinctive red is made principally from Syrah, blended with small portions of Petit Verdot and Tannat. The 2019 vintage (4.5*) is a Cotes-du-Rhone-like red, with ripe blackcurrant and red berry flavours, sitting alongside Syrah’s typical peppery notes in New Zealand. Showing excellent depth and complexity, it should be at its best 2024+. ”

Eventide Syrah 2019, Waiheke Island 5 Star Award: Raymond Chan Wines
Deep, ruby-black, lighter on the rim. This has a full, distinctive bouquet, greeted with plums and boysenberries, enriched by herbal, minty fragrance and a hint of earth and spice. Medium-bodied, succulent aromas of plums and boysenberries melded with mint and sage, subtle earthy notes unfold and linger with black pepper and nutmeg. The wine has power, and subtle earthy minerals added interest. Bright-line of juicy acidity lend a moreish and sustained finish. Fine-grained tannins structure and coated the palate with an opulent mouthfeel. This approachable Syrah possesses succulent fruit, spice and herbal details enriched by fine-grained mouthfeel and earthy interest. Match with roasted lamb and hare over the next 6+ years. 13% alc.
